Before you begin to write, move around a little bit in your chair and practice standing up without making the slightest grunting sound. See if you can feel like you are floating effortlessly upward.
How can you do this?
While you are still seated, alert your body to what’s coming. Get your feet underneath you. Shift your weight so your spine flexes a little bit. Scoot to the edge of the chair. Look up at the ceiling. When you are ready, float to your feet.
Do this four times. After the first two times, sit back down and write about what it felt like to stand up. After the third time, sit back down and write about the day ahead. After the fourth time, step into your day and enjoy the world around you.
Give your work a title and write the date on it.
Here is a longer version of these directions.
