We swim in rivers of people. In person, on the screen, in books, in reputation, and in memory.
Everybody has to be somewhere. We have experienced so many places, public and personal, from couches to mountaintops.
Think about the names of places and people you have known.
Write the letters of the alphabet (A-Z) down the left-hand side of the page.
For each letter, think of the name of a person or place you have known. But do not write that name down. Instead, write a detail that you can associate with that name.
You don’t have to choose a detail that others would connect with that name. As long as the detail makes a connection for you.
Draw or doodle on the page if you like.
When you have written a detail for every letter and illustrated the page to your satisfaction, give your work a title. Write the date on it, too.
