Invent a character by making a list of details that describe someone who would not or could not be you. Make the list by taking note of details about yourself, twisting them into something unrecognizable, and applying that detail to your character.
What are you wearing? Who do you look like? What’s on your mind? What don’t you remember? Use what you know about yourself to invent somebody new.
Stop a couple of inches from the bottom of the page and draw a line underneath your writing. Reread what you have written. Make changes or additions if you like. In the space that remains at the bottom, write a comment about what you have written.
When you have finished, give your work a title and write the date on it. Perhaps you will want to give your character a name as well.
Here is a more detailed version of these instructions.
