Your Precious Hands

November 10, 2017 By Nancy Casey

Before you begin to write today, walk around. Pick up a few objects and set them back down again.  As you do so, notice your hands.  How do they know what to do?  Watch how your fingers get ahold of something tiny, like a coin. When you pick up something a little bit heavy, notice how your hand grips it, each finger holding on the exact right place and the exact right … [Read more...] about Your Precious Hands

Standing Up in Silence

November 10, 2017 By Nancy Casey

How do you spell the word for that sound you make when you stand up after sitting too long in a chair?  Would it be unnh? Or does it need a “g” in it, something more like aagh?  Does it have an “r” sometimes?  Arnh? Urrh? It doesn’t matter so much how you spell it, but it does matter that you say it.  Or more accurately, since it’s not quite something you “say,” it matters … [Read more...] about Standing Up in Silence

Your Precious Hands

Your writing practice should never, ever make your hands hurt.  Ever.  Never. How can you write without getting the tired old aches they call “writers cramp?" Writing classes and workshops

I had been looking forward to the 2020 summer season of in-person  Write-For-You workshops at the Latah Recovery Community Center.  Alas.

Congratulations to last summer’s students who earned certificates in Fiction Writing, Project Management and Grant Writing.

Applause and thanks to those who dropped by the classes just for fun.

Let’s Talk About It

A program that supports reading and discussion in libraries throughout the state of Idaho. Free and open to all. Somehow? Again? At a later date?

We are all looking forward to the time when it will be possible to resume these lively book discussions.

I’ve served as a scholar for this program for I-don’t-know-how-many years. I have found every book, every library, every group of people to be interesting and stimulating. Every discussion brings new ideas and surprises.

I’m confident that this program will evolve so that it can continue to bring Idahoans together through books. We just don’t know how or when that will happen.  Yet.
