Do everything you can to create silence around yourself and in your mind. Turn off the music and the machines. Do whatever tricks you know to quiet your mind.
Direct your awareness to your senses. Write about what they take in. Notice how even the most “boring” moment is filled with details.
Ask yourself questions like, What are my knees doing? What is the tiniest thing I see? What’s the most distant sound? Does my body hurt anywhere?
You can also write some details about what creating silence around you was like.
Add some doodles or other illustrations to the page. When the page is full, read everything over and then give it a title. Put the date and a signature on it, too.
