Write the letters of the alphabet across the top of your page for quick reference.
Draw a dot halfway down the page or so. It will be a signal for you to stop and take a look at what you have done so far.
Then begin writing words at the top of the page, one that begins with A, followed by one beginning with B. Then a word that begins with C and so forth. Write the words one after another along the line without any punctuation.
When you get to Z, start again with A, and keep going that way until you arrive at the dot.
Look over all your words. Admire them a bit. Then write something–a story? a poem?–that uses as many of those words as possible. Don’t burden yourself with a requirement to “make sense.” Let the words roll out and see what kind of word salad they make.
Give your work a title. Write your signature and the date on it, too.
