The Sky Is Falling

April 9, 2018 By Nancy Casey

Write a page that riffs on the notion of things that fall from the sky.

You could use sentences that have these forms:

[…who? what?…] is falling from the sky and […what happens?…]

I wish […who? what?…] would fall from the sky and…

You can also write about how one thing falling from the sky leads you to think of something else. The poet Paul Verlaine, for example, wrote about how “tears fall in my heart like rain on the town.”

Open your imagination to the sky.  Whatever falls onto the page, give it a title and write the date on it, too.

Here is a more detailed version of these directions.

Writing classes and workshops

In-person Write-For-You workshops at the Latah Recovery Center have been suspended for a bit, but you can still do the writing prompts on your own. For more information, about the Write for You program, or if you are in recovery and interested in writing coaching, contact Nancy.
