Every project is different. I offer a range of editing services to help make your prose manuscript accomplish its purpose.
Quick-skim edit
I’ll read your manuscript fast. Really fast. I might not read every single word. I’ll give you the best advice I can based on that quick skim. I can tell you what might jump out (for good or ill) when a publisher or agent takes a look at your work. Or if you know the manuscript needs work, but you aren’t sure what, I can give you suggestions for how to approach your revisions. A Quick-Skim Edit usually costs between $200 and $300 depending on the length and complexity of the manuscript.
Developmental edit
I will read your manuscript carefully and help you identify its strengths. I will suggest ways that you can approach revision so that the entire manuscript will match the quality of your best efforts. The cost of a developmental edit depends on the length of your manuscript and the types of revision it needs. After I see a sample, I can give you an estimate.
Copy edit
I will read your almost-final manuscript carefully, line-by-line, to eliminate errors or awkwardness in grammar and wording and to ensure overall consistency. The cost will depend on the length, condition, and complexity of your manuscript, usually somewhere between $1.50 and $3.00 per page.
Proofread
I will read a copy-edited manuscript carefully to ferret out typos and formatting errors. The cost will depend on the length, condition, and complexity of your manuscript, usually somewhere between $1.25 and $2.50 per page.
How I work
For all types of edits, I use the Track Changes and Comments features of Microsoft Word.
